GROWW.: A Minimalistic Single-Plant Greenhouse for Small Spaces

GROWW. was born out of a simple need to easily grow plants in a small loft apartment. The designers at UAU project wanted to create a solution that would be as accessible as possible, which led them to develop a design that is 3D printable and available for download and self-printing. By making it compatible with the two most common jars in the EU and US - the 82mm thread and wide mouth Mason Jar - GROWW. ensures that anyone can easily find the necessary components to complete the functionality of the greenhouse.

What sets GROWW. apart from other greenhouse designs is its minimalistic and functional approach. The core parts of GROWW. are 3D printed using PLA, a biodegradable thermoplastic derived from renewable resources. The jar, which serves as the transparent top of the greenhouse, is made of glass. This combination of materials not only ensures the durability and stability of the structure but also adds an elegant touch to any living space.

Using GROWW. is a breeze. Simply 3D print the base, find a suitable jar, and screw on the supported jar cap. The inner pot is designed to hold soil, seeds, and water, allowing you to easily create the perfect environment for your plant to thrive. Once everything is in place, close the jar and let nature do the rest. Monitoring the soil moisture and the growth of your plant is made easy by simply checking the jar from time to time. When your plant outgrows the greenhouse, simply replant it in a larger flower pot and reuse GROWW. with a new seed.

Designed and realized in Warsaw, Poland, GROWW. is the result of extensive research and prototyping. The UAU project team spent months perfecting the design, evaluating different materials, and experimenting with 3D printing settings.
